«What does a website cost?» is the question we hear most often in a first meeting – and the one that rarely gets an honest answer online. Many agency sites simply say «price on request». That helps no one who has to plan a budget. So here are our numbers, and what is behind them.
The short answer
A professional company website for an SME costs from CHF 3,500 with us. Most projects are between CHF 3,500 and 7,500. On top come running costs for hosting and maintenance from CHF 320 per year.
For context: in Switzerland, 5 to 10 pages usually cost CHF 2,000 to 5,000 with freelancers, CHF 4,000 to 8,000 with small agencies and CHF 8,000 to 15,000 with large agencies. Website builders start at CHF 20 a month – but then you build the site yourself.
What should be included
A low price is only a good deal if half of it isn't missing. With us, a company website includes:
- Your own design – not a template you know from ten other sites.
- Copywriting – we write the texts for you. The more you tell us in the first meeting about your customers, your work and your story, the more authentic and accurate your website becomes. Keywords are enough to start; stories make the difference.
- Optimised for smartphones, where most of your customers see the site first.
- SEO basics – titles, descriptions and page structure so Google can find you.
- Help with your Google Business Profile, your entry on Google Maps.
- Domain and email addresses set up.
- Training – you learn to update texts and images yourself. Most of our clients do it without us afterwards.
Ask about these points in every quote. Copywriting and the Google profile are often missing – and cost extra later.
What drives the price up
Three things make a website more work. We charge them by effort and tell you the cost in advance:
- An online shop. Products, payment with TWINT or card, shipping and legal information are considerably more work than a plain company site.
- Multiple languages. Every additional language means translating, checking and maintaining texts.
- Missing content. If there is no logo, no photos or no texts yet, we create them. That's no problem, but it belongs in the budget.
What does not raise the price with us: a booking system. For hairdressers, beauty studios, practices or course providers we have developed a ready-made booking system with its own app. It is included in the base price. The only effort is entering your services once. And there are no monthly subscription fees for a booking platform.
Running costs: what comes after launch
A website is never quite finished. It needs a server, regular updates and backups – otherwise it becomes slow or insecure. We offer two packages:
- Web hosting Basic – CHF 320 per year: hosting for one website, server operation, automatic CMS and plugin updates, regular backups, response within 48 hours on working days.
- Web hosting Basic + Mail – CHF 390 per year: everything above, plus email with up to 3 mailboxes (1 GB each).
The 48 hours are our response time. In practice it is rarely needed: we monitor all websites around the clock and usually notice before our clients when something is not working. You can see the current status at any time on our status page.
For comparison: WordPress maintenance alone often costs CHF 400 to 1,000 per year in Switzerland – hosting not included.
How long it takes and how you pay
A standard website is online in 2 to 4 weeks. With more review rounds it is more like 4 to 8 weeks – so you partly set the pace yourself.
Payment is in two parts: 50% on order, 50% at launch.
Two examples from practice
Meryl Gashi Photography, Aarau. The wedding photographer needed a new website that matches the quality of her pictures. We rebuilt it with WordPress, in German and English, optimised for smartphones and with her Google reviews right on the home page. Meryl now maintains galleries and posts herself. View the project
She's Nails & Beauty, Lucerne. A beauty studio with a new brand: we developed the visual identity, built the WordPress website and set up our booking system including the app. The owner now manages her appointments from her smartphone and pays no fees to a booking platform. View the project
Conclusion
A good company website doesn't have to cost a fortune. But ask exactly what the price includes. Expect CHF 3,500 to 7,500 one-off and CHF 320 to 390 per year for operation and updates. Shops, multiple languages or missing content make it more expensive.
